The Mission

AGI as an open resource for everyone.

DAOAGI funds the research and development of Artificial General Intelligence as an open resource available to the entire human society. Everything it finances produces open-source software, open-weight models, and the full research record — papers, data, methods, and knowledge.

01

Open-source software

Every line of code financed by the DAO is released under an irrevocable open-source license. No delayed-open, no source-available substitute.
02

Open-weight models

Every model financed by the DAO ships with open weights. Open code without open weights is not an open resource.
03

Open research

Papers, evaluations, and methods are published in the open. The scientific record is part of what the public receives.

The Problem

Public research is starving.
Private labs are grasping.

Funding for open AGI is fragmented, opaque, and disbursed upfront with little recourse. The best minds are pulled into closed labs. The result is a tragedy of the innovation commons — the software, weights, and knowledge that will shape our future, locked away from the public they will affect.

01

Opacity

Decisions made behind closed doors. Applicants have no visibility into why they were rejected or how to improve.
02

No accountability

Funds flow upfront. When milestones slip, there is rarely a mechanism to claw back or redirect capital.
03

No feedback loop

Successful open-source outputs create enormous commercial value for someone else — none of which returns to fund the next round.

How It Works

From proposal to a public resource.

A simple three-step process that keeps funding transparent — and every output open.

01

Propose

Researchers submit grant proposals with clear milestones, budgets, and a binding commitment: open-source software, open-weight models, and the full research record.
02

Vote

DAGI token holders review proposals and vote. Approved grants lock funds in escrow.
03

Fund

Funds stream as milestones are met. Each milestone releases software, weights, or research into the public. No upfront disbursements, no closed artifacts.

Who This Is For

The work is for all of humanity.

DAOAGI funds AGI as a public resource. These are the people who research, build, fund, review, and steward that work.

Researchers

Get funded to build open AGI — software, weights, and knowledge anyone can use. Transparent milestone-based grants, not opaque committee decisions.

Builders

Shape the infrastructure that will run the ecosystem. Contribute to governance, verification, and resilience design.

Funders

Transparent impact reporting on every dollar. See software, weights, papers, and data released into the public, and what comes next.

Reviewers

Build reputation as a domain expert. Elected reviewers with on-chain attestations earn recognition and compensation.

Security Engineers

Help design resilience against real threats. Contribute to the immune system, quarantine modes, and recovery protocols.

Ethicists & Alignment Researchers

Ensure safety research stays central. Shape the verification layer to evaluate not just deliverables, but alignment impact.

Roadmap

A co-design process,
not a delivery schedule.

Mechanisms ship when the community has hardened them. Each phase concludes with a public retrospective and an updated version of the whitepaper.

Phase 1 · Q3–Q4 2026

Foundation

Recruit Founding Council and first contributors. Launch open design working groups. Stand up treasury and legal wrapper.
Phase 2 · Q1 2027

Pilot Grants

Fund 3–5 small grants. Stress-test verification with volunteer reviewers. Learn from real-world failure modes.
Phase 3 · Q2–Q3 2027

Open Design

Run forum-based design iterations on each subsystem. Publish updated whitepaper incorporating lessons learned.
Phase 4 · Q4 2027

Community Governance

First full grant round under community voting. Elect the first Reviewer Committee. Begin council-to-community transition.
Phase 5 · 2028+

Scale & Resilience

Deploy layered resilience architecture. Validate value capture under real load. Publish hardened mechanism specification.
